The Ryan White Dental Program (RWDP) is a comprehensive dental access program for persons with HIV/AIDS in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, funded under Ryan White Part A and with funds from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The RWDP is designed to remove or reduce barriers to oral health services for persons living with HIV/AIDS through the following four activities:
- Referrals are given to persons who desire treatment from a dental provider who is sensitive to the needs of patients with HIV/AIDS.
- As an Advocate to persons with HIV/AIDS and oral health professionals, the RWDP investigates potential discrimination by dental providers and assists clients with any other problems they may have in getting quality dental care.
- Education is provided to persons with HIV/AIDS and their providers to answer questions pertaining to oral health.
- RWDP pays for dental care for eligible persons who cannot afford dental treatment.
