Our Movement
From a walk in the park to competing in fitness challenges, physical activity involves a range of activities.  A lack of physical activity is a risk factor for chronic disease. Together with proper nutrition, physical fitness has long-term health benefits.

The Chronic Disease Prevention and Control division encourages physical activity in leading walk-to-school programs, promoting active transportation, and running the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series in parks all over the city. The Boston Public Health Commission also has a gym in the South End, so stop by the South End Fitness Center to see what membership is all about!
