Become a Peer Leader

Start Strong values the voices of young people in the fight to end dating violence and promote healthy relationships.  As a result, we hire and train Peer Leaders to help spread messages and build skills associated with healthy relationships.  Start Strong Peer Leaders are high school students that are available to work all year long with Start Strong.

Start Strong Peer Leaders attend a six week intensive training over the summer to become young experts in the field of violence prevention and healthy relationship promotion.  Their curriculum involves (but is not limited to):

  • Teen Dating Violence Prevention Work
  • Healthy Relationship Promotion Work
  • Healthy Break Ups
  • Gender and Systems of Oppression
  • Media Literacy
  • Trauma

After the summer, our youth enter programs/agency to educate youth (ages 11 and up) and adults who work with young people on prevention and promotion work.
