Training Institute

In the winter of 2014, the Defending Childhood Initiative will launch a 3-Day training institute for youth workers. This training will be open to all Boston-based youth workers and seeks in to provide Boston area youth workers with tools that will increase their capacity to support young and children exposed to violence. 

​The goals of the training can are the following:

  1. Increase youth worker's knowledge of youth development, traumatic stress, and resiliency including;
  2. Increase youth worker's self-awareness of their personal beliefs, strengths, and biases around working with youth, trauma, and self-care.
  3. Increase youth worker's ability to identify strategies for building resiliency in youth including:
  4. Increase youth worker's knowledge of how race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and other various identities can impact their own and youth's responses to trauma.
