SEXUAL HEALTH
Sexual health is a critical component of a person’s overall health and wellbeing. While it is important to be knowledgeable about sexually transmitted infections/diseases (STIs or STDs), sexual health also encompasses healthy relationships and attitudes towards sexuality.
The Boston Public Health Commission engages youth across the city in promoting healthy relationships and reducing discrimination related to sexuality. Teens in our programs go out into the community to train their peers in preventing dating violence and healthy ways to end relationships.
Our Infectious Disease bureau works closely with local youth and community-based organizations to raise awareness about preventing and treating STIs, infections that spread from one person to another through sexual contact. Use the resources on this site to learn more about protecting yourself against STIs and where to find confidential testing.
