Health Equity In All Policies

 

What is BPHC’s Health Equity in All Policies (HEiAP) approach? 

BPHC is working internally and with other City departments to ensure that policymakers in Boston consider the potential impact of decisions on people of color and others who may experience barriers to optimal health. Boston’s Health Equity in All Policies Initiative is a group of city departments and community-based organizations that are brought together by BPHC.

What is the goal of the HEiAP Initiative? 

The goal of the HEiAP initiative, led by the BPHC Office of Health Equity, is to better equip city departments to address racial justice and health equity issues within their sectors.  

Achievements 

Recent achievements include: 

  • BPHC gathered an internal working group led by BPHC’s Administration and Finance Office to develop an equitable procurement policy. The policy prioritizes certified underrepresented business enterprises, including businesses owned by people of color, women, LGBTQ+, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, and locally owned businesses.
