NEW AND EXPECTING PARENTS

Mother and Father reading togetherParents and caregivers are some of the most important influential people when it comes to a family's health.  As such, the Boston Public Health Commission works to ensure that new and expecting parents and their children have access to all the supports that they need to build a healthy future.

We offer housing assistance to vulnerable pregnant and postpartum women in partnership with the Boston Housing Authority.  Healthy Baby Healthy Child, our free and confidential home visiting program, allows public health nurses to provide families of young children with tools to strengthen parenting skills and to foster school readiness for kids.  Given that young mothers can sometimes bear the overwhelming burden of parenting, we established the Father Friendly Initiative to provide opportunities for men to become fully involved members of their families and communities.

Healthy families are essential to a healthy Boston, and the Commission is dedicated to nurturing children, parents, and caregivers with positive and supportive programs.
