The Case Management Training Program is housed under the Infectious Disease Bureau of the Boston Public Health Commission. The program was established to host training for case managers serving people living with HIV in the EMA (Eligible Metropolitan Area).

Mission Statement

We strive to empower case managers to work as a community to provide consistent, comprehensive care to people living with HIV.

We do this by partnering with local organizations to provide training and resources for case managers so they can ensure people living with HIV can reach and ​maintain viral suppression by accessing the full continuum of HIV services.​

Together We:

  • Collaborate to build and share resources
  • Educate case managers, clients, and communities
  • Advocate for the health and wellbeing of people living with HIV​


Core training modules are specific to the requirements of case management work.Additional training topics are provided on request by case managers and HIV Program supervisors.

​Provide case managers with background scientific knowledge needed to support their clients.
B​uilding an Effective Client & Case Manager Partnership​
​To understand the "unmet needs" of PLWH and to empower clients to obtain the resources necessary to address these needs
​Comprehensive Service Planning 
​To enhance case managers' skills so they are able to support PLWH to reach and maintain viral suppression and comply with funder requirements​. ​
​Self-Care and Boundary Setting

​To increase case managers’ awareness of the importance of self-care and to create a culture of self-care/caring while working with PLWH.
​Cultural Awareness Series
​To provide case managers will the tools to work with specific populations within the HIV community and to address the barriers faced by different populations in reaching viral suppression and self-sufficiency.
