HEALTHY HOMES AND ENVIRONMENT

Healthy Homes in Boston
Our overall health is impacted in large part by where we live and what harmful or healthy conditions we are exposed to.  The Boston Public Health Commission works closely with residents and community partners to create healthier environments for everyone that lives, works, and plays in Boston.

Our lead prevention and intervention initiatives have helped to dramatically reduce the number of young children with elevated blood lead levels to less than one percent.  We work closely with the Boston Housing Authority, Boston Parks & Recreation Department, and a variety of other partners to create smoke-free and pest-free environments.  And our environmental health staff supports small businesses by consulting with local auto body shops and nail salons to create safer, healthier environments for employees and customers.
