Out of School Time Initiative

The Out-of-School-Time (OST) initiative partners with afterschool and summer programs to support them in establishing or continuing healthy practices and policies around food and beverages, physical activity and reducing screen time.  Participating programs receive skill-based training in examining their nutrition and physical activity environments, practices and policies, as well as free evidence-based curriculum and resources to support making healthy changes during their programs.

The training, called OSNAP (Out-of-School-time Nutrition and Physical Activity) is provided through a series of three learning community events. The models allows participating programs to apply what they learn in the training, work with trainers throughout the school year and network with other OST programs regarding successful strategies being used throughout the city.
