SOUTH END FITNESS CENTER

GREAT NEWS!

The South End Fitness Center is now reopen and accepting new members.

August 5, 2015

Dear South End Fitness Center Members and Partnering Agencies,

We're very excited to announce the reopening of South End Fitness Center on Wednesday, August 12 at 6:00 a.m.  We have appreciated all of the members who were affected by the October 8th closure and thank you for your patience and understanding!

Going forward, SEFC members can enjoy daily-use rental lockers, as well as validated parking at the garage, with the first two hours complimentary. Members whose contracts were affected by the closure and who have not already requested refunds will have their memberships extended for the amount of days that were missed. See an SEFC staff member for additional information.

Swimmers will be happy to hear that Mayor Walsh is providing financial support for improvements to the SEFC pool. Once the work commences, the pool will close for repairs; we'll be sure to keep you notified of its closing (and estimated reopening) well in advance.

Again: the BPHC, SEFC and its staff thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our facilities so that all can benefit. If you have questions, visit BPHC.org, or call the SEFC directly at (617) 534-5822. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Huy Q. Nguyen, MD

South End Fitness Center (SEFC) is a fitness and wellness facility with a uniqueness that sets us apart from other health and fitness centers.  We are one of a variety of preventative health services provided by the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), whose mission we have adopted as our own "to protect, preserve, and promote health and well-being of all Boston residents, especially those most vulnerable." We are part of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control division of the Community Initiatives Bureau. Special partnerships with Boston Medical Center, other non-profit organizations, community groups, and Boston residents makes SEFC a great community resource that reaches out to all individuals regardless of their level of income, education, or experience in fitness and exercise.  Our dedication and commitment to a "harassment-free environment" ensures that a diverse group of members can enjoy our wellness facility in complete comfort as they strive to reach their fitness goals.

All memberships to SEFC include use of our basketball court, abundant strength training equipment, cardiovascular equipment, 25-yard swimming pool, exercise studio, group fitness classes (at a nominal fee), locker rooms, and showers. Members receive a free one hour fitness orientation with our own Fitness Specialist at no extra cost to evaluate fitness goals and discuss proper technique and equipment usage on a personalized fitness program. Discounts on yearly memberships may apply to certain individuals. Please remember to check with our front desk for swimming pool and basketball court availability as times may vary.
