HEALTH RESOURCE CENTER
The Health Resource Center (HRC) is collaboration between the Boston Public Health Commission and Boston Public Schools to bring comprehensive sexual health education, in-school health counseling and referrals to community health care resources to BPS high school students.
HRC health educators are trained to deliver the evidence-based Get Real Sexual Health Curriculum to youth and cover topics that range from healthy decision making, healthy relationships, and sexual health, including prevention of STIs, HIV, and unplanned pregnancy, to youth struggling with their sexual identity or gender. The HRC team also delivers a substance abuse curriculum using a combination of workshops and activities from the Drugs4Real curriculum and the Michigan Model to prevent smoking and drug use, and ultimately provide the students with skills to make informed decisions. The health educators also discuss youth depression and suicide, stress and anger management using the Break-free From Depression curriculum developed by Children's Hospital.
