 MINORITY AIDS INITIATIVE

Agencies funded by the Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI) grant provide a combination of case management and peer support services that target People Living With HIV (PLWH) from disproportionately impacted minority communities.

Under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act, MAI was codified as a separate and distinct grant program for which local cities and urban areas now have to compete.  For FY 2008, the MAI award is $843,100.  MAI funds support eight agencies.  Programmatic support includes contract management, monitoring client demographics and service utilization data, working with agencies to maximize distributed funds, and providing technical assistance on grant management and reporting requirements.
