Homeless Services Bureau Mission Statement
The mission of the Boston Public Health Commission's Homeless Services Bureau is to improve the quality of life of Boston's homeless citizen's by providing emergency shelter, social services, and housing search services.
We strive to affirm the dignity and human rights of each and every person that we serve. Homeless Services partners with governmental agencies, private homeless services providers, and homeless advocates to seek solutions to end homelessness.

The Boston Public Health Commission’s Homeless Services Bureau is committed to helping individuals with any challenges that may have led to homelessness. We offer a broad range of services and over 800 beds in the City of Boston. We recognize that each homeless individual has his or her own story.

The Friends of Boston’s Homeless
Founded in 1987, Friends of Boston’s Homeless is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that works in a public/private partnership with Boston Public Health Commission’s Homeless Services. The Friends of Boston’s Homeless help develop and support innovative, solution-oriented programs to help the homeless move beyond shelter and back into the community as independent citizens. In addition, through advocacy and education, it seeks to increase the public’s awareness and understanding of the realities of homelessness.
