On behalf of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, I want to welcome you to the new website of the Emergency Shelter Commission!
The Emergency Shelter Commission is a public health service center of the Boston Public Health Commission, responsible for coordinating interagency strategic planning, public policy advocacy and services for constituents who may be at-risk of, or experiencing, homelessness in the City of Boston.
The Emergency Shelter Commission provides information and referral for constituents seeking emergency shelter, affordable housing opportunities, street outreach and other services from the wide array of community-based organizations that serve homeless and low-income households in our city. We are proud of the work the Commission is doing to leverage resources and community support for efforts to prevent and end homelessness. This site is designed to inform you about resources, programs and partnerships serving homeless and at-risk families, individuals and youth in Boston.
We urge you to explore information available through our web site and those of our many community-based partner organizations. Links to key advocacy organizations and service providers who can provide more detailed or specific information are included in our department's website. We will try to respond to questions or inquiries as quickly as possible. If you cannot locate information you are in need of, please address comments to EShelter@bphc.org.
Thank you for your interest in our efforts to fight homelessness and our advocacy on behalf of homeless men, women and children in Boston.
