 Research and Training

partners in an ambulanceIn order to continue to provide the most advanced care to our patients, Boston EMS is led by our Medical Director and the RTQI (Research, Training and Quality Improvement) division focuses on research into areas of state-of-the-art pre-hospital medicine. Areas of current research interest include the uses of best practices in cardiac resuscitation including therapeutic hypothermia, the use of new breathing equipment including CPAP, which has previously only been used in the hospital setting, and the use of alternative intravenous access devices. The Boston EMS system provides the best pre-hospital care possible by physician and senior paramedic review on a scheduled basis of the most challenging and most common medical cases to ensure the best care has been given. Through the processes in place at RTQI, members of our community can feel confident in the care they will receive when they are in need of emergency assistance.
