Program Overview & Services |
|
The Boston Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (BTPCP) provide development, implementation, and enforcement of local ordinances that control the sale, use, and distribution of tobacco and nicotene delivery products. The BTPCP also supports/leads initiatives which promote smoking cessation, protect residents from second hand smoke, prevent youth from becoming smokers, and monitors data to identify high risk populations in the city of Boston.
The BTPCP currently licenses all tobacco and nicotene delivery retailers and conducts compliance checks to ensure businesses abide by local laws restricting youth access to tobacco and nicotene delivery products. BTPCP staff enforces the both Boston’s Workplace Smoking Regulation and Massachusetts Smoke Free Workplace Law in the city intended to protect workers from health hazards resulting from exposure to secondhand smoke. BTPCP staff also conducts community education efforts on dangers of tobacco use to the general public, population at risk, and businesses.
