LGBT Health manages the Commission's activities to improve the health of residents through prevention, increased access to health care, community trainings, direct health services, and policy development. Population focus includes but is not limited to emerging populations such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) residents, immigrant, refugee, and migrant communities, and other marginalized and disenfranchised populations.
Our program does the following:
- Monitors emerging populations health through research literature, local data, published reports, and community input.
- Works with Commission's programs and general public to raise cultural competency and build capacity, and provide trainings and technical assistance to respond to identified needs.
- Guides the Commission in speaking out on related public policy issues as needed.
