About the Oral Health in Early Childhood Initiative


In response to the new toothbrushing regulation in childcare settings, the Office of Oral Health implemented the Oral Health in Early Childhood initiative to provide support and technical assistance to childcare providers to implement the new toothbrush regulation that requires childcare providers to assist children in brushing their teeth if the child is in their care for more than 4 hours per day or if the child eats a meal while in their care. Trainings are provided in English and Spanish.

New Regulation on Tooth Brushing at Child Care Settings


Effective January 2010, licensed childcare providers must assist children with brushing their teeth if the child is in their care for more than 4 hours per day or if the child eats a meal while in their care. more>>    

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office of Oral Health has developed a training manual to help childcare providers implement this new regulation.
