The Training and Advocacy Unit provides trainings and workshops to community based agencies that serve Boston residents. These trainings are offered free of charge and are tailored to each agency’s need. In addition to DV 101, which covers the basics of domestic violence, the Training Unit can also cover a wide range of issues. Past trainings have included:

  • The Specific Health Effects of Intimate Partner Violence
  • The Effects of Children Exposed to violence
  • The Unique Aspects of Teen Dating Violence
  • DV and Homelessness
  • DV & HIV Overlapping Epidemics
  • Linking Substance Use/Abuse and IPV
  • Gay, Bi-Sexual, Lesbian, Transgender Issues
  • Elder Abuse

All trainers provide resources, referral information, and guidance in developing on-going prevention work. To schedule training or to access resources including books, videos, and training guides, please contact Dolores Aguirre at 617-534-2327.

Resource Lending Library:
The Library contains books, videos, curricula and other materials on domestic violence and its related issues. These items can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks. The library also contains recent journal articles, website pages, educational materials and other information on various aspects of domestic violence.

Networking and Advocacy Monthly Meeting:
The DVP facilitates a monthly meeting for DV advocates, health and social service providers, educators, and other professionals to network and learn more about specific issues relevant to their practice. The meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of every month at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue on the 2nd Floor.
