BPHC to host Eighth Annual Breakup Summit: "Chase Your Goals, Not a Post"

On Wednesday, July 26, 2017, the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) will host more than 200 teens for the eighth Annual Breakup Summit. The daylong summit, titled "Chase Your Goals, Not a Post," will be centered on the impact social media has on breakups. Workshops at the summit were created and will be delivered by teenaged Start Strong Peer Leaders.

Youth participants will have the opportunity to attend the "Breakups 101" course, which will cover basic skills to ensure a healthier breakup, and will participate in a variety of elective workshops.

Adults will follow a separate track on preventing revenge pornography, which is the posting of revealing or sexually explicit images or videos of a person on the Internet, typically by a former sexual partner and without consent. The adult workshop will outline the personal and legal consequences that revenge pornography has on young people.
