Community Health Centers
Boston is home to more than two dozen community health centers. In fact, the
very first health center in the country opened in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood
in 1965 and continues today as the Geiger Gibson Community Health Center.
These centers provide care to neighboring residents that is tailored to the
communities they serve. The staff at community health centers speak several
languages, and provide a broad array of health services, including primary care,
mental health, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, dental care and social
services.
