 INFECTIOUS DISEASE BUREAU

Mission Statement: Building on the Commission’s two hundred years of leadership in the public health field, the Infectious Disease Bureau strives to reduce the impact of infectious diseases, prevent the morbidity associated with these diseases, and create healthier lives for the residents of Boston.

Work within the Infectious Disease Bureau includes surveillance, investigation of cases and outbreaks, providing funding for a continuum of HIV care through funds received under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act, providing community and provider education related to HIV and other communicable diseases, and operating a tuberculosis clinic.

The four parts that make up the Infectious Disease Bureau are: the Communicable Disease Control Division, the HIV/AIDS Services Division, the Education & Outreach Office, and the TB Clinic.
